About PolyTrack

PolyTrack is a low-poly racing game with a built-in track editor: drive the leaderboards, or build the track yourself.

PolyTrack is a racing game in the minimalist low-poly style, and it comes with the thing that makes that style pay off: an editor. It runs in the browser — no download, no account, no install.

The driving is a straight time-trial proposition. You have a car, a track and a clock, and nothing between them except your line. Tracks are built from simple shapes raised slightly off the ground, so falling off is a real risk and the fastest route usually involves cutting a corner as close to the edge as the car will allow. There is no traffic and no weapons — the opponent is the clock and the ghost of your own best attempt.

The editor is the second half of the game. Because the geometry is deliberately simple, building a track is a matter of placing pieces rather than modelling anything, and the community has used that to produce courses that are far more difficult than the built-in ones. Playing other people's tracks is where a game like this stays alive.

It is a keyboard game at heart, with touch controls available.

On cool games spot this page is the index entry: cover, description, and search terms. The game itself is loaded from a third-party web build in an iframe on Play, so nothing is bundled into the site. It is filed under driving and tagged racing and car, so it appears alongside the rest of the racing games in the catalog.

Press Play and find out.
