Car Racer

Car Racer is a highway game about staying in one piece on a road that has no interest in your plans. It runs in the browser — no download, no account, no install.

The car accelerates automatically and you supply the steering. Traffic runs the same direction as you, which makes the game a puzzle of relative speed: the slowest vehicles are the ones you close on fastest, and the gaps that open beside them are the only opportunities you get. Weaving is the whole skill, and it has to be planned a few cars ahead rather than reacted to one at a time.

It is an arcade racer rather than a simulation. There is no damage model, no gears and no track to learn, because the road is generated and endless. What there is instead is a steady escalation: the traffic gets denser and the speed climbs, so a run that lasted a minute ends because you were going too fast to read the road, not because the game cheated.

It plays with the arrow keys on desktop and with taps on a phone.
