Math Cross

Math Cross is arithmetic arranged as a crossword, and the format does more for the maths than the maths does for the format. It runs in the browser — no download, no account, no install.

The board is a grid, some cells are filled in, and the rest are for you. Rows and columns have to work out — a horizontal run of numbers and operators must equal the result shown at its end, and the same goes the other way. Every cell you fill constrains the ones around it, so the puzzle is really a chain of small deductions rather than a long calculation.

That is what makes it accessible and, at the same time, not trivial. Because the numbers stay small and the operations are the basic four, the arithmetic itself is never the obstacle — the logic is. Solving a board feels like finishing a Sudoku more than like doing homework, and mistakes are self-correcting: a wrong digit makes a line stop adding up almost immediately.

It is a tap or click game, designed for short sessions, and it reads well on a phone screen.
