Avatar Game

Avatar Game is a side-scrolling runner set in a jungle that is actively trying to kill you, and it is built around moving up rather than staying down. It runs in the browser — no download, no account, no install.

The character is on the run. You control him directly through three environments — the Na'vi forest, Pandora Bay and the Forest of Souls — and the obstacles are spikes, gaps and traps that need a different answer each time: jump over this one, slide under that one, fly across the third.

The speed ramps. As the run goes on, the character accelerates and the traps arrive closer together, so the early part of a stage is a warm-up and the late part is a test of whether you have been reading ahead or just reacting. Coins are scattered along the line you want to take anyway, which is a neat way of teaching the route without a tutorial.

There are two modes and three levels. Practice mode lets you learn the layout of a stage without the pressure of a run ending, and the normal mode is where the difficulty actually lives — later levels stack the mechanics from the earlier ones rather than introducing new ones.

It is a landscape game with clean, readable art, and the touch controls are responsive on a phone.
