Football Bros

Football Bros is a small arcade football game rather than a simulation, and it runs in the browser — no download, no account, no install.

Games are short. You pick a play from a short menu, the ball is snapped, and the next ten seconds are about position: run a route, throw the pass, and use the shoulder barge when a defender gets close. The controls are a handful of keys — arrows or WASD to move, and one button that throws, dives or stiff-arms depending on the situation you are in.

The physics do a lot of the comedy. Players stretch, tackles land at odd angles, and a well-timed barge interrupts an animation mid-throw and turns the ball over. It is not realistic, and it is not trying to be; the fun is in reading the play quickly and committing to it.

The mode list is what makes it last. There is a quick play against the computer for learning the controls, a local two-player match on a shared keyboard, and online play against another person. A franchise mode adds team progression on top, and the roster covers a full set of teams.

It is a landscape game and the keyboard layout is the way it is meant to be played, though it does load on a phone.
