The rule is the one the title states. Small fish get eaten, big fish do the eating, and everybody starts somewhere in the middle. Eating raises your size, which is the only progression the game has and also the only thing that changes your standing: the fish that was hunting you a minute ago may now be prey, and the reversal is the whole point.

The three-player setup is what makes it work. With two players the game resolves into a chase; with three, the biggest fish has to worry about the others teaming up, and the smallest has somewhere to hide. Rounds are short and there is no progression between them, which means nobody is ever behind — the next round starts even.

It is designed for one keyboard, with shared-screen controls that also work as taps on a tablet.
